Master Plan
New Mexico City International Airport
OTC developed a comprehensive airport master plan for Mexico City, to be developed on the site on the former Lake Texcoco. The master plan envisions a multi-phased development to a maximum capacity of up to 120 MPPA and 4 million tons of cargo, served by a 5-runway airfield.
The master plan designates land uses around the airport to spur new economic activities, including a major logistics hub and a commercial district. The terminal concept allows for a main hub operation as well as separate low-cost terminals, with future phases to flexibly expand either type of operation. The multi-modal ground transportation center (GTC) is designed for two types of rail service, including high-speed rail, as well as an innovative bus-based Airport Express service to satellite terminals around the city. The planning seeks to minimize the initial investment, maximize commercial opportunities, and support flexible, market-driven expansion.
